Good Company

You know you are in good company when time seems to run right past you during a long drive. The good music, conversation and laughter seem to steal your attention. You are no longer focusing so much on the length of time it will take to get to your destination. Additionally, maybe you can relate to the one who spends a great length of time talking on the phone with a good friend. That moment when you are so deep in conversation, and before you even know it an hour has already passed. As I was driving to my retreat this weekend, which was a 4-hour drive, I spent my time worshiping, praying, listening to a sermon, and just simply talking to the Lord. My mind was immediately removed from how much time I had left of the drive and replaced with my acknowledgment of the Lord. My mind was on Him. My awareness of His presence re-directed my focus. The length of time was no longer the focus for me. The Lord immediately showed me that in our circumstances we can do the same. Instead of giving your circumstances your undivided attention, which is stealing your peace, re-direct your focus on Jesus. Just as I had lost track of the length of time in my drive, being in the company of Jesus will re-direct you from focusing on the “when” and “how” change is going to come, to the “who” you are in the company of, which is Jesus. He will carry you through some of the toughest times in your life, and as you hold on and remain focused on Him, keep enjoying His company, because as soon as you know it, so much time will have already past even to the point where you begin seeing a shift in your circumstances for the good. So, rest assured knowing that you are in the best company throughout your journey. Eyes on Jesus.
